RIDGEFIELD, WA-A 286-acre mixed-use development at the Ridgefield Junction is over another hurdle. Late last month, Houston-based JRC Financial Inc. and the Schuck Corporation of Colorado Springs closed on their purchase of the land near Interstate 5 and Northwest 258th Street, which will be developed in partnership with Bob Zimmerly, who ran the Pioneer Potato Farm on much of the land.

The project being discussed is a self-contained planned community, for which a zone change from industrial would be required or an “overlay zone” would have to be created. An overlay zone allows for alternate uses to be used upon meeting certain criteria regarding size and employment, among other things. The Ridgefield City Council is looking at ways it can accommodate the project, but has made no major decisions.
