AUSTIN-Cirrus Logic has leased 190,000 sf at the Terrace Business Park in southwest Austin in preparation for expansion of its corporate headquarters and work force, a Cirrus source tells GlobeSt.com. “We will be moving about 450 employees to the Terrace and could have about 50 more employees by that time,” says Stan Victor, a corporate vice president with Cirrus.

The company moved its world headquarters from the Silicon Valley to Austin in April 2000 and now operates at South Park Corporate Center near Bergstrom International Airport. Cirrus expects to keep about 300 to 400 employees at its present location for manufacturing and assembly operations.

The Terrace, a multi-use development off Mopac Boulevard and Loop 360, will ultimately include seven office towers with 1.1 million sf of office and retail space, 208 town homes and a hotel. Terrace I and II are 100% leased, according to its agent with Colliers and Oxford Commercial Inc.

Cirrus will occupy from five to six floors of Terrace V, which is scheduled for completion by the summer 2002. The company’s move to Terrace V offers a perk to current and prospective employees who want to live in west Austin, an area with rapid commercial and residential growth on the edge of the Texas Hill Country, Victor says.”There is a significant amount of growth on the west side and much of our engineering staff lives out there,” Victor tells GlobeSt.com. “From a recruiting perspective, it is much more desirable to live close to work.”

Cirrus Logic supplies high-performance analog and DSP chip solutions for Internet entertainment electronics. The firm, founded in 1984, sells its products under the Crystal r, Maverick T, and 3Ci T brands as well as its own name. Cirrus also has sites in Fremont, CA, Broomfield, CO, as well as offices in Europe, Japan and Asia.
