CORONADO-In the latest labor action of a contract dispute that has lasted for several months, workers staged a one-day strike at the Hotel del Coronado on Monday.

Local 30 of the Hotel Employees and Restaurant Employees, which represents about 650 hotel employees, called the walk-out to protest the impasse in contract talks. Hotel management says managers and workers who crossed the picket lines kept operations going at the famed inn.

Negotiations between the union and the hotel began in March, but the contract covering hotel employees expired Aug. 31.

Several labor actions have taken place at the hotel over the last several months. Two dozen union members were arrested in September during a protest, prompting several to file a lawsuit against the hotel alleging racial discrimination and violation of civil rights.
