SAN DIEGO COUNTY-Bath and bedding retailer Strouds Inc., which is in the middle of a bankruptcy proceeding, has announced plans to close stores in La Mesa, Oceanside and San Ysidro over the next three months.

The La Mesa store will close the day after Christmas. The other two outlets will close following liquidation sales expected to conclude in March. Four stores will continue to operate: in Mission Valley, Point Loma, Escondido and La Jolla.

A store employee says that most, if not all workers at the closed stores will be absorbed by the remaining outlets. Strouds is seeking bankruptcy court permission to close four other stores, including one in Huntington Beach in Orange County.

The case will be heard Dec. 21 in Wilmington, DE.
