THIEF RIVER FALLS, MN – About $27 million in financing has been arranged to build a casino and water park in the northwestern Minnesota town of Thief River Falls, according to the investment firm that helped finance the deal, Minneapolis-based Miller & Schroeder Financial. Red Lake Gaming Enterprises Inc. plans to connect the new facilities to the Red Lake Band of Chippewa’s Thief River Falls Casino. The project includes a 40,000 sf water recreation park, a 151-room all-suite hotel, an arcade, a child-care center, a business center, three new restaurants and a remodeled casino floor that will be expanded by 5,400 sf. Construction of the indoor water parks has already begun, with a grand opening scheduled for May 2001.
