ESCONDIDO, CA-Sempra Energy Resources officials may not build a high-tech industrial park in the city as expected. Company officials will reportedly meet next week to discuss the issue.

Sempra still would move forward with its 500-megawatt plant on the site in southwest Escondido, even if it scraps plans to build the business park. The 200-acre industrial park is proposed for an area near the power plant in the Quail Hills area.

Sempra is concerned about a 49-megawatt plant that would be built at the entrance to its business park by CalPeak, another energy company. CalPeak bypassed the city and won approval for its project from the state Energy Commission this week, but Sempra officials and some city officials are concerned the CalPeak plant could hinder Sempra’s ability to attract high-end tenants.
