ATLANTA-Residents in the modest Brandon Hill subdivision are asking Clayton County commissioners to deny a conditional use permit to Indiana-based Renewed Property Management Group because they fear a planned 258-unit apartment complex will generate criminal activity.

They prefer, instead, to live near the 72-acre John L. Maddock Inc. salvage yard where the developer plans to build its $20-million shelter project at $77,519 per unit on 58 acres, along with four commercial buildings on 12 acres. RPM will also provide 33 acres of green space.

The developers’ representatives couldn’t be reached at publication deadline but area brokers familiar with the Riverdale communities near the junk yard tell GlobeSt.com the apartment owner hopes to carefully screen prospective tenants; install a key-card entrance; and keep the rent range at $680 to $760 per month.

This is RPM’s first Southeast project. Most of its rejuvenated shelter ventures are in the Midwest.
