DENVER-The bidding was fast and furious, and when it was over, a mountain construction company paid $2.6 million for eight partially completed luxury condominiums in the ski resort of Breckenridge. Randolph M. Moity Sr., a retired Louisiana oilman who now owns a home near Breckenridge, made the winning bid on behalf of Harris Construction of Breckenridge at the auction held by the Chicago firm Sheldon Good & Co. in the Marriott City Center Hotel in Downtown.

Moity says he will finance the purchase. He paid $325,000 per unit, which he says is a fair price.

The units range from only having foundations to being 95% complete.

Units in Breckenridge have been selling from $400 to $600 per sf, and Moity says he expects these units in the Woods at Breckenridge will carry a premium. That’s because they’re next to a proposed gondola that Vail Resorts plans. Vail owns Breckenridge.

Units range in size from 2,145-sf to 3,873 -sf, which means the top unit could sell for more than $2.2 million.
