DETROIT-Mayor Dennis Archer will speak about Detroit and its importance to the Southeast Michigan area at the annual General Assembly meeting for the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments Thursday afternoon at the Detroit Yacht Club. The association’s delegates and alternates will gather at the club on Belle Isle at 4:30 p.m.
Archer will address the assembly on the significance of Detroit’s 300th birthday and its role as Southeast Michigan’s central city.
Items also on the agenda include presentation of Regional Ambassador awards and Public Administration Foundation awards. The assembly will also be updated on SEMCOG’s progress in developing a regional plan for mass transit.
Also, SEMCOG Officers and delegates-at-large will be elected during the meeting.
The council is a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting member communities with economic development, population growth and transportation issues.
