MIAMI-Cushman & Wakefield is fortifying its presence in the Latin American markets by hiring Philip H. Grossberg as a member of a newly formed, five-member International Services Group. Grossberg will coordinate Latin American activities from offices in Miami.

The New York-based commercial real estate services firm hired the former regional manager of South American real estate operations for General Motors do Brasil, a subsidiary of Detroit-based General Motors Corp.

As a member of the team, Grossberg is charged with generating new business through the company’s 10 offices in Latin America, including six in Mexico, two in Brazil and one each in Argentina and Chile. He also will be developing sourcing and serving strategies through the company’s team of brokers.

The formation of the International Services Group and the decision to hire Grossberg as a member targets a growing client demand for more sophisticated delivery of services in the global markets, John B. Coppedge III, Cushman & Wakefield executive vice president in charge of the international services group, says in a prepared statement.

“Philip is uniquely positioned to serve as our liaison for the U.S.-Latin America market,” Coppedge says. “In addition to understanding the geography and culture of Latin America, Philip brings a client perspective to the job, having served as an in-house real estate manager for General Motors for seven years both in the United States and Brazil.”

It also became apparent quickly that Miami offered the best strategic location for Grossberg and the International Services Group.

“Miami is the ideal city for Philip to be based because it truly is the gateway to Latin America,” Peter R. Harrison, Cushman & Wakefield senior managing director and client services director in Florida, says in the same prepared statement. “In addition to being a multicultural city, Miami has the transportation and communications infrastructure necessary to facilitate cross-border transactions.”
