DENVER-UAL Corp., parents of United Airlines, plans a $300-million expansion at Denver International Airport. UAL plans another 35 gates on the eats wing of Concourse A for regional jet service at DIA.

The new gates would make DIA the largest, most up-to-date regional aircraft operation in United’s five-hub systems. DIA is United’s second-largest hub after Chicago O’Hare, as far as overall traffic.

The new project will include a Red Carpet Club for members, jetways for each gate, restrooms, and concession areas.

UAL hopes to complete the massive project in 2005.

The project has been in the works for almost a year-and-a-half. The green light was given to the expansion at the same time that its deal to buy US Airways fizzled, but that was just a coincidence and had no bearing on the expansion, according to United officials.
