LEEDS-Landmark Development Projects and St James Securities have won planning permission for a 400,0000 sf mixed residential and commercial building including the tallest tower block in the North of England. The Bridgwater place development in Victoria Road, close to Leeds railway station, will feature a 30-storey tower.

Leeds City Council approved plans for a 22-storey residential block, to be built by Persimmon Homes, on top of an eight-storey commercial podium block including offices, restaurants and parking for 400 cars.

St James Director Ian Barraclough said: ‘We took on board early comments from CABE (the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment) and following changes to the massing and permeability, we as developers and Leeds’ planners are now delighted with the outcome.’ Construction is due to begin at the end of 2001 with completion scheduled for Autumn 2003.

DTZ Debenham Tie Leung and Hill Woodhouse are letting agents.
