MINNEAPOLIS-Krispy Kreme is coming to the Twin Cities soon to fill a hole in the region’s pastry selection, according to retail brokers at United Properties, the Bloomington, MN-based commercial real estate firm. Famous even among those who’ve never tasted them, they draw swarms of traffic wherever they are sold, according to United.

The company plans to open five to six locations in the Twin Cities. Krispy Kreme’s real estate strategy focuses on building free-standing, drive-through stores in high-trafficlocations. Look for the first store to be open in the fourth quarter, according to United.

The Winston-Salem, NC-based doughnut retailer now has about 185 stores in 31 states.
