SAN FRANCISCO-The Art Institute International has leased an additional 12,000 SF of space at its current United Nations Plaza location. The school will now occupy the remaining 40% of the building, which consists of the fifth and sixth floors at 1170 Market St., as well as the ground, second, third and seventh floors it already leases.

This expansion will provide more classroom space, computer labs and equipment for its student population, which has doubled in the past two years, according to Dan Soine of the Art Institute.

Soine tells GlobeSt.com that the school expects the expansion to be complete by the start of the fall quarter. The school’s lease rate was not immediately available. Rates in the area average about $32 per sf, annually.
