LOS ANGELES-Lending giant Washington Mutual has signed a lease valued at more than $6.8 million to move its business banking unit into Downtown’s Two California Plaza at 350 S. Grand Ave.

The division signed a 10-year lease to occupy all 26,300 sf of office space on the 34th floor of the 52-story tower, a broker familiar with the transaction tells GlobeSt.com. The 1.33-million-sf complex is owned by Chicago-based REIT giant Equity Office Properties Trust.

Seattle-based Washington Mutual has become one of the 10 largest lenders in the country, thanks to its aggressive marketing efforts and a long string of acquisitions. Its business banking unit has been headquartered in Downtown’s 1000 Wilshire building for several years.

A CB Richard Ellis team of Mike McRoskey, John McRoskey, Kent Handleman and Dan O’Neil negotiated for Washington Mutual. Equity Office was represented in-house by Brendan McCracken.
