PHOENIX-A company that provides radioactive drugs to the medical research and hospital industry has leased 7,000 sf in north Phoenix.

Nycomed Amersham will be moving into a research and development-flex building at 20601 N. 19th Ave. The structure is positioned on the southeast corner at 19th Avenue’s intersection with Mohawk Lane. It is less than a mile east of Interstate 17 and within of Loop 101.

Nycomed Amersham, which is relocating from within Phoenix, is one of the world leaders in the development, manufacture and supply of innovative products for the diagnosis and treatment of disease. The company’s global operations consist of research, development and manufacturing facilities in Europe, North America, China and Japan. Amersham’s products are used in hospitals, clinics, research laboratories and pharmaceutical companies.

The leased site is located in one of the Valley’s hottest areas for office and industrial development–Black Canyon Freeway and Deer Valley corridors. For two years, the corridors have been attracting office and industrial tenants and consequently, developers.Nearly 350,000 sf of new office has opened in Deer Valley Corridor this year, another 480,000 sf is under construction and another 950,000 sf is on the drawing boards. As for the industrial market, more than 700,000 sf is under construction.

The Phoenix office of Grubb & Ellis Co., with brokers Tom Atkinson and Tony Ardizzone, represented Nycomed Amersham in the lease negotiations. The Phoenix office of Cushman & Wakefield of Arizona Inc. acted for building owner, the San Francisco-based Panattoni Development Co.
