ROUND ROCK, TX-DPT Inc., an Austin-based company that repairs computer screens, plans to lease 104,000 sf at Opus South’s Crystal Park development in Round Rock.

DPT has outgrown its 51,500-sf facility at 9210 Cameron Rd. in Austin’s northeast submarket. The company has 190 employees and expects to have as many as 460 in four years.

The Round Rock City Council is to vote on an incentive program that would provide DPT with $600 for training for each job it creates when the number of employees surpasses 200. “An employee-based incentives package makes good sense for DPT because we spend a lot of money on training and are confident of continued growth over the next five years,” Dave Wares, president of DPT Inc., says. However, if the city council doesn’t OK the incentives, DPT might seek other sites for its expansion.

The new facility gives DPT 25,000 sf of office, training and engineering space; 20,000 sf of shipping, receiving and warehouse space; and 60,000 sf of production space. It also has 500 parking spaces.

Mike Tipps, co-found and principal of Colliers Oxford Commercial in Austin, has represented DPT. Colliers Oxford also is the leasing agent for Crystal Park.

DPT is the US subsidiary of Display Product Technologies Ltd., based in East Kilbride, Scotland. The company, which has about 450 employees worldwide, also has operations in California, Taiwan and Ireland.

Crystal Park is a 515,000-sf office and industrial park off Interstate 35. DPT will set up shop in building D in the project’s 240,000-sf second phase, which delivers in December.Crystal Park’s fully leased first phase contains 283,317 sf of industrial space in three warehouse-distribution buildings. Tenants include Trend Technologies Inc. and Ryder Integrated Logistics.

Opus has developed eight projects in Austin over the past three years. The company also owns the two-story office tower in Crystal Park Plaza and Plaza on the Lake, off Capital of Texas Highway in the southwest Austin submarket.

Opus South is the southeast regional operating division of Minneapolis-based Opus Group. The firm is headquartered in Tampa, with regional offices in Austin, Dallas, Houston, Atlanta, Orlando, Ft. Lauderdale, Miami and Pensacola.
