LONDON-The City of London Office Unit Trust, managed by Pillar Property, has submitted a new planning application to the City of London Corporation for Austral House, Basinghall Avenue, London EC2.

Planning consent was granted in December 1999 to redevelop the existing 103,000 sf property with 227,238 sf over eight storeys. But now Pillar’s architect Swanke Hayden Connell has revised the plans. The new proposal is for a nine-storey structure housing 247,464 sf.

At the same time, Pillar has withdrawn its application for another City scheme. At 5 Cheapside, EC2, to the rear of the Paternoster Square development site, Pillar had applied for full consent for a new seven-storey 110,000 sf building, designed by Allies & Morrison. The scheme would also have involved improvements to St Paul’s Underground station.
