BOSTON-After insisting that he would not hold another local meeting, local developer Frank McCourt held one final meeting to pitch his proposal to develop a ballpark for the Boston Red Sox on part of his 25-acre parcel on the waterfront in South Boston.

McCourt reportedly agreed to present his proposal again after several local officials convinced him that his first pitch to the neighborhood was not sufficient. A group of neighborhood organizations sponsored the meeting.

McCourt has put his hat in the ring to buy a controlling stake in the Sox. While McCourt came into the bidding a little late in the game, his ownership of the parcel on which he wants to build a stadium for the team gives him a leg up on the other bidders.

In his presentation, McCourt attempted to allay public concerns over the congestion that a ballpark would bring to the area. The developer contends that a ballpark would bring much less traffic to the area than an office development constructed on the same site. McCourt also proposes developing an office park on six of the 25 acres he owns here but he has agreed to put a hold on that project for a few years.
