EDEN PRAIRIE, MN-Best Buy, the consumer electronics chain based here, says it has extended its takeover bid for Future Shops Ltd., a Canadian consumer electronics retailer. Best Buy, which has 1,700 stores, isoffering $368 million for the chain, or about $10.79 a share.

The bid was scheduled to expire this month, and will now be extended to Oct. 31. Future Shop is Canada’s largest consumer electronics chain with 89 stores.

Best Buy plans to convert the stores to the Best Buy name, and plans to build an additional 30 stores in Canada.
