Schlotzsky's Adds Northcross Mall Store

AUSTIN-Schlotzsky’s Inc. opens its 30th company-owned restaurant today next to Northcross Mall in Austin’s central submarket. The 3,200-sf, freestanding restaurant offers the full menu of Schlotzsky’s sandwich and pizzas as well as pastries and coffees that the company is pushing its franchise partners to use.

The company, in its 30th year, has said that configuration and menu are driving up sales in the company-owned stores. The three current Austin stores that have what the company calls the “full package” averaged sales of more than $40,000 a week, compared to a system wide average of $12,000 a week. There are about 700 Schlotzsky’s restaurants in 32 states.

The new store, the 10th the company owns store in its Austin base, cost about $1 million to build and outfit. It offers Internet-connected Apple Computer Corp. iMac computers for customers to use while waiting for their order or during their meal. It has about 30 full- and part-time employees.
