JERSEY CITY-The Salvation Army has been given some 200,000-sf of space in the one million-sf Lackawanna Building here, to house relief supplies and volunteers relating to the World Trade Center disaster. The building, which is owned by an investor group that includes an affiliate of Emmes Asset Management of New York, will be available to the Salvation Army for at least the next three months.

“We heard on a radio program that the Salvation Army needed the space, and within a half hour our partners had identified the space and reached out to their representatives,” according to Jeffrey Donnelly, an Emmes associate.

Initially, the space will be used to house truckloads of relief supplies arriving from throughout the country. In addition, essential items to be used by relief workers involved in the cleanup of the World Trade Center will also be stored there.
