TROY, MI-The city council here is deciding whether to pay $230,000 to buy propertyowned by Christ Church Cranbrook, along the north side of Square Lake Road, to turn the land into a park. The city wants the 6.46 acres to extend a trail system from its Jaycee Park through to its Section 1 Golf Course and Flynn Park.

The purchase would create a linear park system through the city, says City Manager JohnSzerlag.

Bond money would be used to purchase the parcel through a negotiated purchase agreement.

The church wants to sell the property because it has been ruled as a wetlands, and is unsuitable for any type of building or construction. The city council may make its decision at the next public meeting this month.
