DALLAS-The Dallas office of Chicago-based Equis Corp. is down five brokers and there is no plan to replace them, confirms Matt Nine, Equis assistant vice president of the Dallas team.

Stuart Smith, Equis director of industrial real estate, is acting in the interim to fill the shoes of Randy Cooper, who recently exited from the top spot to join Insignia/ESG’S Dallas team. Another four brokers have parted ways by mutual agreement, Nine, authorized to speak on Equis’ behalf, tells GlobeSt.com. “That’s a good size for what we need in Dallas.” There are now six office brokers and two industrial on the Equis staff.

Nine says it could take “30 days, 60 days or even longer” to fill the lead position. “Right now, we are really being careful who we talk to to be the senior office leader,” he says. The Equis Dallas team, says Nine, has positioned itself to redirect its focus to the Dallas-Ft. Worth’s major corporate players. “This is giving us a really good opportunity, Nine emphasizes. But, he adds, there is no shift in “the way we are thinking about our business in the market.”

Nine declined to identify the other brokers who have left the Equis fold because they are in the midst of negotiating with other brokerage firms. He is saying that the decision “was a mutual career decision, something that was good for everybody.”

In recent months, many DFW brokerage firms have undergone personnel shifts. It’s just a result of current market conditions, several veteran brokers have explained during the course of the many changes in affiliations.
