NEW YORK CITY-Brookfield Properties’ 11th-hour cancellation of ceremonies commemorating the re-opening of its One Liberty Plaza building was a matter of final approvals taking longer than expected, the company says. The building is expected to be tenant-ready later this week.

“There is no historical precedent for the re-opening of a property such as One Liberty Plaza,” a Brookfield statement says. “We have been working with all necessary city departments to ensure we could open the property and believe we have achieved all conditions.”

The company says all repairs and tests have been concluded, but that “in our exuberance to get one Liberty Plaza open,” coordination efforts with the city were insufficient to get the final papers signed in time for today’s planned festivities.
