FOXBOROUGH, MA-Lincoln Property’s proposal to develop a 102,150-sf warehouse facility here on Route 106 between Saxon and Truax Lane is being met with fierce local opposition from residents who are gearing up to do battle with the Texas-based company.

According to Marc Resnick, the town planner, the planning board is currently reviewing the company’s plans and Lincoln has filed a notice of intent with the local conservation commission. The problem, as Resnick tells GlobeSt.com, is that the location of the proposed facility is directly across from a residentially zoned area that is home to a new neighborhood of upscale homes. The facility’s location is commercially zoned but nearby residents contend that this area is not appropriate for a warehouse facility where trucks will be driving by their homes on narrow, curvy roads.

Lincoln Property did not return calls by presstime but the company reportedly states that it is complying with all zoning regulations. The proposal for the property involves 15 loading bays for trucks, a parking lot with 89 spaces, and adjoining offices. The company plans to lease the facility to one or two tenants.

Meanwhile, residents here have formed a group called the Foxborough Responsible Growth Committee, and are gathering signatures for a petition. The group reportedly insists that it is not opposed to commercial development on the site but says that a warehouse increases pollution, noise, and traffic and carries the potential for hazardous materials spills.
