CASS LAKE, MN-The Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe recently created a corporate commission to oversee economic development on and off its reservation, both within and outsidethe gaming industry. The Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe owns and operates the new Northern Lights Casino in Walker, MN; the Palace Casino and Bingo facility in Cass Lake, MN; and WhiteOak Casino in Deer River, MN.

Donaldson June has been appointed commissioner of corporate affairs. The organization will help small business development, as well as oversee commercial real estate development projects. Vicki White, economic development director of the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe, says advantages for new businesses locating on the reservation include no business taxes andcommercial zoning already has been established.
