WASHINGTON, DC-The John Akridge Companies takes its first step in a marketing campaign for one of its office buildings, which will be erected in downtown Washington, DC in the summer of 2003. Interested parties can now attain information on the 350,000-sf property from a new Web site, 900seventhst.com

Visitors to the site have access to a thorough list of details on the structure. The property will house both office and retail space. There will also be a four-level parking lot in the building, a feature that is of great importance to businesses in the District. Hellmuth, Obata & Kassabaum Inc., designers of the Washington area’s popular Air and Space Museum, is the architectural firm behind this project.

However, it is the prime location in the “new downtown” area–where cultural and dining options surround premiere businesses–that John Akridge is touting the most. Details on these area businesses and other opportunities are also available with the click of a mouse. “Demand for space in Washington, DC will remain strong as the business community responds to the ongoing progress and achievements of Mayor [Anthony] Williams and the District of Columbia City Council’s revitalization efforts,” explains John Akridge Senior Vice President Brian Connolly. The group boasts a list of complete or pending projects in and around the Washington, DC totaling nearly 11 million sf, and worth more than $1.75 billion.

In addition to perusing the basic statistics on 900 Seventh Street, Web site visitors can also sign-up to receive updated information on construction progress and special leasing opportunities via e-mail. The two-way communication between the real estate services firm and Web site guests is expected to provide solid leads on potential clients. “We’ve used Web sites for the last few years to market our projects,” Connolly notes. “We do get very good responses off our Web sites as we put together other marketing materials.”

While some work is already underway on the property, a formal groundbreaking ceremony will take place on Thursday, November 1.
