RANDOLPH, MA-Sears has leased 73,500 sf of space here on 21 Pacella Park Drive to use as a regional engine and appliance repair center. The move is part of a nationwide venture on the part of the company to develop separate service centers where it will repair both Sears and non-Sears products.

The structure was originally built as a warehouse for a steel company and was used most recently as storage space for a flooring company. Sears will convert the office and warehouse facility into a repair center. According to Thomas Powers, senior director with Cushman & Wakefield, Sears chose this location for its accessibility to the highway and its central location to Rhode Island, Connecticut and New Hampshire. The company plans to use this site to service the New England region, with products being trucked in from designated drop-off centers.

Powers represented Sears, which is now headquartered in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, in the transaction while the landlord, Equity Industrial Partners, represented itself. In addition to its retail stores in the area, Sears also has a logistics operations center in Westwood.
