SANTA BARBARA, CA-The wildly popular but financially ailing Rancho San Marcos Golf Course here has been sold to Utah-based Premier Golf International Inc. for $12.5 million.

The sale appears to end a complicated and sometimes nasty battle between the course’s owner, its operator and Premier Golf. US Bankruptcy Judge Robin Riblet approved the sale by owner Rancho San Marcos Golf Partners late last week, Premier Golf says.

The golf course is considered one of the best in California, and was voted one of the 10 best new courses in America by Golf Magazine when it opened a few years ago. But its financial results have been disappointing.

The deal approved by Riblet requires the sale to be made by Nov. 27.
