WEST GREENWICH, RI-Immunex Corp. of Seattle, WA is poised to spend approximately $500 million to build a new laboratory and plant for their highly successful arthritis drug Enbrel. The new facility will be located in West Greenwich, Rhode Island, next door to an existing one that the company is purchasing from American Home Products.

Immunex hopes to close on the American Home Products property early in 2002 and then continue on with the engineering and construction of the manufacturing plant. The plant will house the company’s bioreactors. Immunex officials were not available for comment.
