OCEANSIDE, CA-Despite deadline woes, Manchester Resorts still wants to build a deluxe hotel and intends to submit a development agreement to city officials today.

Manchester Resort officials informed municipal offices Tuesday they wouldn’t make the deadline of 4:30 p.m. for filing the papers. They had been given an extension until Tuesday because city offices weren’t open on the formal Saturday deadline.

The city has the power to hold the developer in default, but officials say Manchester officials are expected to turn the paperwork in Wednesday and the council won’t likely need to get involved.

Manchester proposes to build a hotel with banquet rooms, restaurants and shops on two square blocks bounded by Myers and Pacific streets, Seagaze Drive and Pier View Way.

City officials were scheduled to meet Tuesday with the staff of the state Coastal Commission to discuss the Manchester project, which is likely to be heard by the state commission in February.
