Dallas-Based Wingstop Breaks In-House Records

DALLAS-Dallas-based Wingstop Restaurants Inc. signs three franchisees in deals to add eight more eateries to cities in Texas, Florida and Louisiana. The trio of signings came in one day, breaking a company record, says Wingstop president Jim Deering.

New franchisee Gary Schults will be putting restaurants in the Texas cities of Midland, Odessa and San Angelo while another chain newcomer, Tina Williams, will open two locations in the Miami area in 2002. Existing franchisee Calvin Golden has inked a deal for two stores in Baton Rouge and one in Lafayette, LA. Golden currently operates two stores in Dallas and one in Lake Charles, LA.

Wingstop franchisees have 60 locations under development. There are 23 stores set to open between the close of 2001 and April 2002.

The triple play also came in the same week that Wingstop broke its weekly sales record as the 44-location chain sold more than $500,000 in chicken wings in one week. In November, company reports put same store, same period sales up 27% over 2000 results.
