FREEHOLD, NJ – Monmouth County has all of the necessary agreements in place to build a new $5.2 million, 43,000-sf office building to house several county agencies. The Benjamin R. Harvey Co. of Ocean Twp., NJ has signed on as general contractor for the facility, which is being designed by WML Architecture of Hazlet, NJ.

Among the agencies that will use the space are several county and state agricultural offices, including the Rutgers Cooperative Extension and the county 4-H Department. Much of the rest of the space will be taken up by the Monmouth County Vocational Board of Education. All of the various groups currently occupy space in a number of county-owned buildings that Monmouth County officials want to sell to the private sector.

The site of the new building is currently a parking lot adjacent to the county’s Department of Human Resources. Work is expected to begin shortly, and officials say that construction will take about one year.
