LONDON-Grantchester Holdings, the specialist retail warehousing developer and investor, as agreed to buy a 30-acre site in Merthyr Tydfil, South Wales, from the Welsh Development Agency. The site is situated alongside the A470 above Merthyr Town Centre and Grantchester plans to build 235,000 sf of non-food retail development and up to 5,000 sf for fast food outlets.

This will be Grantchester’s third scheme in Wales, after successful projects in Bridgend and Cardiff. Grantchester’s Chief Executive, Tim Walton, said: “We have identified Merthyr Tydfil as having great potential to develop as a destination regional shopping centre and this particular site will allow us to attract leading UK retail names which will complement the existing and future town centre retail plans.”
