TROY, MI-The city is still growing with new development and property tenants, even in a weakened economy. In office space, Redico has announced it will complete major renovations of the City Center and the SBC Ameritech buildings.

Retail is also growing. Cambridge Crossings at Maple and Maplelawn nears completion of the shopping district. A new 30,000-sf Marshall’s department store is going up just west of the new Wal-Mart. Tenants like Home Depot, Kohl’s, Farmer Jack and PetCo have leased all but 7,000-sf of Midtown Square, a 604,000 new shopping area at Maple and Coolidge roads.

Multifamily growth continues with Midtown Square Condominiums, a 20-building development with 285 units, 50% complete. Sandalwood South Condominiums, with 50 attached units, are under construction by MJC Cos. Maya’s Meadows Condominiums, a 28-unit attached development, is under construction by E&F Investment Co.

In industrial space, Axel Tech Inc. is building a 20,000-sf manufacturing facility in Troy Place at Coolidge and Big Beaver roads. The cost of the new facility will be $2.37 million, and move in is expected by December.
