FOLSOM, CA-Palmer College of Chiropractic, an Iowa-based institution, has chosen Folsom to be the site of its new West Coast campus, after withdrawing a proposal from the City of Davis.

Palmer College of Chiropractic plans to build a campus in Folsom that will accommodate up to 100 employees and 750 students. While the college has not decided on a specific site, city officials say that the college has made an offer on a 14-acre site near Folsom High School, which is owned by the school district.

Palmer currently operates its West Coast campus in San Jose but is looking to cut costs by relocating to the Sacramento area by 2006. The college planned to build the new campus in Davis but was told that the proposal must include new housing. Palmer withdrew its offer.

The Davis proposal consisted of two buildings of about 55,000-sf each, as well as an auditorium and recreation facilities. The project would have created approximately $28 million in economic activity to the area per year. The Folsom campus is expected to be similar to this project.
