Nissan Unveils New Look With $9M Dual Metro Projects

PHOENIX-A slick, new, buffed-up image for Nissan will revitalize the look of an old car dealership and create a new dealership in the fast-growing suburbs northwest of the city.

The $9-million dual construction projects will give the existing ABC Nissan at 1300 Camelback Rd. and a new Peoria dealership at 9055 West Bell Rd. a contemporary “high tech” look with chrome-and-aluminum accents. “It will be a sleeker look,” Marc Thompson project manager for D.L. Withers Construction Co. tells GlobeSt.com, referring to the new design. “When you drive in, you will know you’re at a Nissan dealership.”

Thompson said construction at the Phoenix site will be done in four phases to allow the dealership to remain open. The construction includes tearing down two of the existing buildings and replacing them with two structures, totaling 33,000 sf, on two new vehicle display lots. The main, two-story building will house a large showroom, sales and finance offices, customer lounges and training facility. The second building will be an addition to the existing service facility and include a new customer waiting room and service reception area. That project is scheduled to be completed by July 2003.

The Peoria dealership, slated to begin construction by mid-October, will consist of one 48,132-sf building that will include the dealership’s showroom, offices, service area and parts storage. Construction is scheduled to be completed by March 2003.

Designed by John Mahoney Architects of Tempe, the new buildings are part of Nissan’s nationwide image-building program for new and existing dealerships that will give a more contemporary branding to the automotive company.
