SALISBURY, MD-Sheboygan, WI-headquartered VPI/Mirrex has broken ground on a $15 million expansion of its film and converting division plant. Construction activity will yield an additional 20,000 sf of state-of-the-art production space for the existing 140,000-sf facility, as well as 20 new jobs for area residents. The additional space will allow the Sheboygan-WI headquartered company to triple the capacity of its local film calendering production line.

VPI built the Salisbury facility, one of six throughout the US, five years ago. “The commitment to the new calendering line was strongly influenced by the assistance received from the state and local governments,” notes VPI’s Salisbury site general manager Kevin Kerchner. “It’s a great benefit to be located in a friendly community that supports expansion of your business.” The state’s Department of Business and Economic Development and the University of Maryland Rural Development Center helped VPI fund the development, providing a $200,000 grant.
