PARSIPPANY, NJ-All of the regional construction companies gobbled up by the Swedish-based Skanska AB in recent years will lose their regional identities under a reorganization plan announced by the company’s US construction arm, Skanska USA Building Inc. Under the plan, the names Beers, Barclay White, Barney, Baugh, Beacon, Etkin and Sordoni will disappear and top management will be centralized at the company’s existing national headquarters here.

“We will continue to maintain and grow our local leadership base,” explains Michael J. Healy, president and CEO of Skanska USA. “But with more and more national project opportunities presenting themselves, the time is right to prepare the company for the next phase of growth in the national marketplace.”

As part of the restructuring, the company is forming a National Markets Group that will target specialty segment industries. The group will initially focus on the science/technology and healthcare segments.

The consolidation, which is expected to be completed by the beginning of next year, will result in a company with combined annual revenues of about $5 billion and a roster of more than 5,300 employees.
