HOUSTON-Industry accolades this week have been accorded to a leading Houston developer, two holdings of a Fort Worth-based REIT and a development company for its 30-year master plan.

Gerald D. Hines, founder and chairman of Hines Interests, was selected for the Urban Land Institute’s J.C. Nichols Prize for Visionary Urban Development. The honor comes with a $100,000 check. He was recognized for excellence in design, environmental sustainability and business operations of the Hines’ portfolio, now topping 70 million sf and valued at more than $13 billion.

The Woodlands Operating Co. received an award for its 30-year plan in a first-time honor from the Citizens’ Coalition. The Synergy Award recognizes environmental excellence.

Crescent’s Houston Center was feted for an environmental honor at the 18th annual mayor’s luncheon while Greenway Plaza received an honorable mention for its grand plaza renovations, which brought additions such as an amphitheater.
