AUSTIN-Two real estate brokers are with new companies in Austin. Lance Sallis has rejoined Trammell Crow Co. from Triad Properties. Separately, John Childers has joined the huddle at Staubach Co. after five years at Colliers International.

Sallis has been named senior vice president for Trammell Crow’s office division. He’ll have leasing duties for the 281,000-sf Wells Fargo Tower at 400 W. 15th St. in the CBD as well as finding new business, acquisitions and special projects. The tower is 85% leased, down because of the departure of a full-floor tenant, Sallis says. The plan is to repopulate the floor with multiple tenants.

Sallis tells GlobeSt.com that he joined Trammell Crow because of the opportunity to work and live in Austin and to return to the management and leasing side of the real estate business. “Triad was a developer and it’s not a developer’s market right now,” he says.

Returning to office leasing is a good fit for him, Sallis says, especially in the current market. “The best thing is to focus on helping the institutional owners who already have product, help them work their way through this market and maximize their value mix and maximize their project’s potential during a tough market time.”

Sallis spent seven years in Trammell Crow’s Dallas office, joining Triad in 1998 when his Dallas-based firm, Sallis Commercial, merged with the Jackson, MS-based firm. He was responsible for 3.5 million sf of office space and development of 500,000 sf of industrial space.

For Childers, the move to Staubach allows him to re-team with Diana Holford with who he worked when he started at Colliers. “I’ve always enjoyed working with her and this is a great opportunity to come back and work under her leadership,” he explains.

Childers says Staubach’s corporate culture is more focused on his business of tenant representation. He will continue to work on the deals he had going at Colliers and develop news ones, he says.
