Jonathan A. Schein President & CEO Real Estate Media GlobeSt.com

12/12/02: This week, a meeting of many of the country’s largest commercial real estate firms’ human capital executives met to discuss the placement and retention of top talent. Companies represented included Julien J. Studley Co., Vornado Realty Trust, Tishman Speyer Properties, Ernst & Young, Morgan Stanley Real Estate, Trizec Properties, Holliday Fenoglio Fowler and the Urban Land Institute, Pension Real Estate Association and the NYU Real Estate Institute. Sponsored by Real Estate Media Inc./GlobeSt.com and Equinox Partners/SelectLeaders.com, this was a unique opportunity for these individuals to interact in a way not yet seen or heard of in this industry. Human resources, up to now, had been on the back burner of this deal-driven industry. With our meeting, it has clearly moved to the front. The question of finding and retaining new talent is now being discussed as we get ready for the economic turnaround. Has your company begun to take the appropriate steps to establish a human- capital plan?
