Bookstore Finds Larger Spot in Sugar Land

SUGAR LAND, TX-Family Christian Stores Inc., the nation’s largest Christian retailer, is moving from 2,000 sf in the First Colony Commons shopping center to a 5,000-sf spot at Town Center Lakeside, also in the First Colony section of Sugar Land. The relocation is set for August 2003.

G. Peter Jacob represented the property owner, Sugarland Properties Inc. Kristin Barker of the Houston office of the Trammell Crow Co. brokered the pact for Family Christian Stores.

The shopping center is part of 1.5 million sf of neighborhood retail and power centers completed in the area by Sugarland Properties. The $70-million, 43-acre Town Center Lakeside is anchored by a 175,000-sf Super Target backed by a tenant roster with national retailers such as Car Toys, La-Z-Boy and Time Warner. It has 55,000 sf of inline retail space and 20 acres of pad sites. It is located at the junction of US Highway 59 and Texas 6.

Family Christian Stores has 352 locations in 39 states, of which 45 are in Texas. The Houston area has six stores.
