DEDHAM, MA-The Hebrew Rehabilitation Center for the Aged is planning to file formal plans with the town for an ambitious 570,000-sf “intergenerational campus” on a 157-acre parcel near West and Common Streets and the Charles River. The project involves two assisted-living units of 115 units each, a school that would accommodate kindergarten through eighth grade and a daycare center. “The purpose is to bring people together from different generations,” Terence Lewis, the center’s senior consultant for real estate development, tells GlobeSt.com.

Lewis says that Hebrew Rehabilitation has signed a purchase-and-sale agreement for an “undisclosed amount.” He notes that the project is still in the planning stages but emphasizes that the school will be near the long-term care and assisted-care buildings. He adds that it is possible that all the buildings will be linked to each other.

Lewis also declined to reveal the estimated costs of the project. He says that some of the beds in the new facility will be relocated from the institution’s Boston location, which will be downsized and renovated once the new campus is developed.

The center currently operates a main facility with 725 long-term-care beds on Centre Street in Boston’s Roslindale neighborhood. The center also runs the 266-unit Jack Satter House in Revere, the 160-unit Trilling House in Randolph and the Orchard Cove facility in Canton, which has nearly 300 units. Recently, Hebrew Rehabilitation also acquired three apartment buildings in Brookline.
