CHICAGO-Former CEO Douglas Crocker II is leaving his seat on the Equity Residential board of trustees, in order to avoid any potential conflicts of interest. Although his resignation includes a one-year non-compete clause, Crocker decided to cut ties as he pursues other business opportunities.

“After retiring as CEO, I have been presented with many business opportunities, some of which I would like to consider,” Crocker explains in a statement. “Therefore, to avoid any real or perceived conflicts, I am resigning from the board of trustees. Crocker already sits on Prime Group Realty Trust’s board of directors, having joined following his retirement from the top post of the multifamily REIT.
