BREA, CA-Construction has begun on the second phase of the Evangelical Christian Credit Union’s new corporate headquarters campus, according to Irvine-based Ware Malcomb Architects, designers of the project.

Phase II is the third building on the credit union’s $12-million campus at the corner of Imperial Highway and Puente Street. The two-building first phase also was designed by Ware Malcomb and are occupied by the credit union.

The Phase II building is a two-story, 82,150-sf multi-tenant speculative office project. The credit union already has secured a major tenant, Alta Resources, which will lease the entire second floor, with the first floor remaining available for lease. The new office building is due to be completed in the fourth quarter of this year by Snyder Langston of Irvine, the general contractor.

The project’s first phase consisted of a 104,163-sf office building and 21,452-sf ancillary administration building with exterior courtyard. The entire campus covers 17.4 acres and will house more than 300,000 sf of class A office space when completed.

The Phase I office building includes a credit union branch with lobby, private and open offices, conference rooms, executive offices and an executive board room. The ancillary building has an auditorium that accommodates up to 350 people, along with a kitchen, warehouse, restrooms, locker and shower facilities and a gymnasium with two racquetball courts.

ECCU, founded in 1964, has approximately $860 million in assets under management. It operates as a not-for-profit financial cooperative in partnerships with churches and other Christian organizations to provide real estate financing, cash management, depository and investment services.

Ware Malcomb, established in 1972, specializes in planning, architecture and interior design. The company’s projects include commercial office, health care, industrial distribution, R&D and science and technology facilities.
