NEWPORT BEACH, CA-The Koll Co. has moved management and leasing in-house for its 68-building, 1.2-million-sf Airport Business Center in Irvine and hired two management and leasing execs as part of the move.

The company named Diane Scott as vice president of property management and Lori Ash as vice president of leasing, part of what managing principal Jerry Yahr describes as a “re-focused business strategy of being a fully integrated real estate operating company.” CB Richard Ellis Inc. had the leasing assignment for the airport center for the past five years.

Yahr says Scott will direct a nine-member management team for the Airport Business Center portfolio of multi-tenant, light industrial buildings. She also will oversee all property management operations of the company. Ash rejoined the firm from CB Richard Ellis after a five-year hiatus as director of leasing for the airport property under CBRE’s watch. She has more than15 years of real estate experience for such companies as CB Richard Ellis, Koll Management Services and Beitler Commercial Real Estate Services.

Scott comes to Koll from Irvine-based Crown Realty & Development, where she was vice president of property management, overseeing more than two million sf of properties valued at $400 million. Before that, Scott spent eight years as senior manager of Lakeshore Towers, a one-million-sf office campus in Irvine.

Patti Brook also joined the company as property manager for the Airport Business Center portfolio. Most recently, she was a property manager for Trammell Crow Co., overseeing about 1.9 million sf of industrial space with 80 tenants at five properties in Southern California.

Yahr emphasized that the management and leasing change was not due to any dissatisfaction with service provided by CB Richard Ellis, but was made “solely to better meet the evolving strategic needs of the Koll Co.” He says Koll’s in-house leasing activities will be limited to its multi-tenant light industrial portfolio and the company will continue to work directly with brokers on its other properties. The Airport Business Center occupies approximately 75 acres just east of Orange County’s John Wayne Airport.
