FRONT ROYAL, VA-Warehousing and distribution company Winchester Cold Storage has added to its property holdings with the recent acquisition of a nearly 284,000-sf structure formerly known as the MeadWestvaco/WesTab building for just over $7 million. Winchester acquired the property, which occupies 35 acres of land in the Kelley Industrial Park, from MW Custom Papers LLC through real estate services firm Binswanger/CBB.

Located at 167 Kelley Drive, the facility consists of 262,000 sf of manufacturing space, an attached 5,500-sf utility area and a 16,000-sf office space. The building was first developed in 1985 and later underwent an expansion of nearly 5,000 sf in 1998.

This acquisition is indicative of Winchester’s current diversification strategy, which will result in increased build-to-suit and direct leasing options for its clients. Prior to the Front Royal purchase, Winchester bought a former Siemens-occupied facility– a 207,000-sf, 34-acre complex on Brooke Rd. in Winchester, VA–for $6.5 million, with the same notion of providing its clients with increased options.
