BOCA RATON, FL-Kaplan Inc., a provider of educational and career services for people, schools and businesses, has subleased 28,500 sf of office space here from Nortel Networks Inc. The deal is valued at more than $1 million.

The sublease runs through September 2005, the remainder of the term left on the Nortel lease. Nortel, a Canadian telecommunications company, previously occupied the space. But the company left its four locations in Boca Raton to consolidate, according to Courtenay Yergens, a broker involved in the transaction.

The space is located at 6501 Congress Ave. in The Millennium Building. Kaplan has another location across the street. “Their plan in the next couple of years is to consolidate everyone into one big building,” Yergens tells GlobeSt.com.

Yergens and Peter Reed of Grubb & Ellis represented Nortel Networks in the transaction. Thomas Dean of Cushman & Wakefield’s Fort Lauderdale office represented Kaplan. Kaplan Inc. is a wholly owned subsidiary of The Washington Post Co.
